Newbie question about non-menubar menus

My pleasure, glad the PNG solved it.

And honestly, if you ever do feel like getting back into programming, it’s probably never been easier to get started again. With tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, I think someone with your C++ background could pick up Python pretty quickly.

I’m having too much outdoor active fun during retirement to make time for programming. My long career of programming predates AI, so I’d need to acclimate to not writing code from scratch.

All of my BetterTouchTool experience has been on my Mac Studio. I exported my 5 Trackpad gestures to a .bttpreset file and then successful imported them into BetterTouchTool running on my MacBook Pro. I’ve made them Evernote-specific in BetterTouchTool on my MacBook Pro, as I did on my Mac Studio. However, they aren’t recognized on my MacBook Pro, i.e. nothing occurs when I do the gesture in Evernote. I made sure that BetterTouchTool has the same privacy permissions on both devices, i.e. Accessibility, Input Monitoring, and Full Disk Access. Any idea what else I might have missed in setting up BetterTouchTool on my MacBook Pro?

@rperch Could you make a screen recording and share it here to help troubleshoot?

Let me know if my primitive screen recording is useful or you require additional information. I am new to this and didn’t bother to evaluate compressing the movie to a smaller size. Hopefully the 63MB file will successfully post to this forum.

@rperch this is helpful. Could you try toggling on the "HUD Overlay" tick box? With that toggled on, we can quickly test if the 2 Finger Double Tap trigger is being triggered.

I checked the HUD Overlay documentation here Keyboard Shortcut Triggers | BetterTouchTool Documentation , but did not find the appropriate tick box to activate the feature.

Thanks. I didn’t realized the HUD tick box was gesture-specific. I checked the tick box for the 2 Finger Double-Tap gesture on both my Mac Studio and MacBook Pro. Both show the HUD display when I complete the gesture. However, the MacBook Pro never displayed the expected custom menu configured in BetterTouchTool. BTW, I was surprised that the HUD appears on the Mac Studio only AFTER I complete my custom menu selection.

I would guess your exported preset is missing parts. Could you maybe post it here? Possibly you had two presets and the context menu items were in some other?
