Lost settings and can't start BTT after restore

I’m a regular BTT user, with lots of keyboard shortcuts. I was using it just fine until a little bit ago today when I was experiencing some weird behavior as I was typing in Google Sheets in the browser. I quit BTT just to make sure I could debug without BTT in the middle.

After opening BTT again, my settings were empty. I used the Help → Restore from Backup option. I saw 2 backups (one from today, one from Nov 15). The one from today again resulted in no settings. I then changed to the one from Nov 15 and got an error that it is not compatible. Interestingly, I don’t think I’ve updated BTT any time within the past few weeks.

Now BTT won’t open at all. I get the error message in the attached screenshot. How can I get BTT running again and how can I hopefully recover my settings?

If you zip that folder (~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool, go there via Finder => Go => Go to Folder, make sure to include the ~) and send it to me (andreas@folivora.ai) I can check whether there is still some usable data in there.

If you have a time machine backup or similar you can also restore that folder to a previous version.
