Logitech mouse sends thumb button "randomly"

Describe the bug
My Logitech M720 mouse will send the Thumb button (button 5 for me) whenever BTT does a “logitech quick setup” or “logitech setup” (per the BTT log)

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):

Normal mouse

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
  • macOS version: macOS Monterrey 12.7.6 (21H1320)
  • BetterTouchTool version: (please post the exact version - not just "the latest one"
    • 6.124 currently - but this is happening on any version I try including latest alphas

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

i’ll send the debug info to andreas@folivora.ai then

sorry it thought it was ok to post that here

I'll check your logs later, but unfortunately while Steer mouse is installed (even if it's closed as far as I know), it is almost impossible to tell what's wrong. I know there are multiple M720 users here that use it successfully only with BTT (with all buttons)

Yeah it would just require me to completely re-do all my mouse triggers.

I’ll try that, i guess :sob:. Will update.

PS. I wish there was a “find-and-replace” feature so that i could choose one trigger (like button 5) and replace them all across all apps with another (like button 29 etc). But it’s probably rarely useful except in situations such as mine.

you can do search & replace if you export your preset and open it in a texteditor (or copy&paste the triggers into an editor), it is JSON. However the values are not always in an obvious format, but if you copy from one trigger it will work

Dang. Figures it’s a json. I should have tried that lol. Oh well i did it manually and it seems to be working better now. Though I haven’t been using the mouse much. I’ll update if anything changes. Thanks!
