**Describe the bug** I use BTT daily and its key sequences the most often. Yet a few days ago, they stopped working entirely. I cannot even get the recording ("Type Key Sequence") working except for the modifier keys!! The Keyboard Shortcuts still work. For example I set up F12 to show/hide Clipboard History and it is working right now. Global settings, I have tried switching these but behavior stays the same, the Key Sequence recorder is only seeing modifier keys. Not checked "Always use old keyboard shortcut implementation" Checked "Automatically switch to old keyboard implementation if secure input is enabled", "Don't process keyboard shortcuts sent by BTT itself" Not checked "Use higher level modifier key recognition", "Add small delay" BTT menubar is not alerting me about secure input being enabled at the moment. It does say so when there is. I am trying the **latest** (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool 5.286 now, was using the lastest main release before when it first stopped working (I no longer remember which version that was). I have restarted my system a few times, both a reboot and a full power-off. I've tried it with and without external keyboard attached via USB, with and without Karabiner running. I removed BTT from Accessibility while it was running, and my MacBook froze entirely at that moment, I had to hold the power down to shut off machine. it still didn't work after I restarted & added it back to the security settings, Accessibility enabled. Later after installing this alpha version 5.286 I quit BTT then removed it, re-added it to Accessibility without any problem/freezing, but it still doesn't work. * * * **Affected input device:** keyboard - internal and USB * * * **Screenshots** If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem. sounds like some app enabled secure input mode on your system and forgot to deactivate it again. Easiest logout and back in or restart your system BTT shows a note about this when you click on its menubar icon ---

(Apple menu) "Log out " me "...." ... closes everything. Log back in, I wait a minute for all my apps & windows to come back. BTT menu says "Secure input activated by coreautha " ... and has its PID "Record key sequence" still showing me this behavior, only showing modifier keys. "Restart BetterTouchTool" ... BTT menu still showing "Secure input activated by coreautha" with same PID. I now notice I have KeepassXC running asking for a password, so I exit it, now BTT shows no secure input, good start! **key sequences working now** So... something about my system + KeePassXC + my usage of them is different, keeping SecureMode input open more often. On the plus side, I have now set up fingerprint on KeePassXC so it doesn't have the password box & secure input enabled as much. Thanks for getting me to look in the right place ---

let’s hope it continues to work! Most of the time this is caused by faulty password boxes that are opened in the background behind some other windows
