key sequences and insert text

Describe the bug

When using keyboard sequences to paste text I get the paste and delete sequences reversed. That is the deletes sent to remove the trigger text actually occur after the paste and so remove the end of the pasted text and not the trigger text.

With insert by typing this seems to occur universally! With insert by pasting, it seems to work fine in Word and Notes but fails in Gmail in Safari but not in this text box.

Typing yal, should trigger the shortcut and type

Yours sincerely,

Alistair

but instead I get

yalYours sincerely,

Alist

Sequence detection also seems hit and miss in Gmail.

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):

MacBook keyboard
