Input Lag/Delay While BTT is Open

Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app's "Crash Reports" section.

Describe the bug
When BetterTouchTool is running, system-wide input like clicking (both Mac trackpad and external mice), typing (both internal keyboard and external bluetooth keyboards) are delayed and sometimes dropped (I might type “thanks” but the “a” and “n” will be missing. When I open BTT, and click “Quit,” then this behavior immediately stops. When I reopen BTT, this behavior immediately resumes.

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro 14”
  • macOS version: macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.304

this usually indicates that some process on your system is using a lot of CPU (check via activity monitor)

In case you are using the experimental Dropbox / iCloud sync in BTT, try to disable that.

In some rare cases it can also be caused by conflicts with other mouse / keyboard related apps like Karabiner Elements
