How to use the "BTT_PRESET_FOLDER" variable in bash?

I've tried just using it directly, but "echo $BTT_PRESET_FOLDER" returns nothing. What am I missing?

My goal is to include an executable in a preset.

Forgot to mention, I'm on BTT v3.393 in Mojave.
