The topic is important to me in general. Let’s look at a seemingly easy first case: I have two Floating Menus that contain triggers for Actions that I use frequently to process text.
I have 6 Triggers in BetterTouchTool that show them: 3 for each – 1 keyboard shortcut (“keychord”) and 2 Floating Menu Triggers on other Floating Menus. In all cases, I want the Floating Menus to be shown in the same location, and the mouse cursor to be moved to the center of the top-left Trigger in the Floating Menu. (In this case, I am positioning the Floating Menu’s upper right corner -8,-8 from the active window’s upper-right corner.)
What’s the most consolidated way to set this up?
Bonus: this should allow me to make a single change in either the Floating Menu position or the mouse cursor position and have it work that way no matter which Trigger is executed to show either of these two Floating Menus.
The Floating Menu position is set in Floating Menu configuration (“Visibility ▹ Position on Screen”), so there is nothing to change there: the position is determined by the Floating Menu itself.
Afaict, the position of the mouse cursor is independent of the position of the Floating Menu. It can be set with Actions in the same Action Sequence as the Action that shows the Floating Menu.
I have duplicated the Action that moves the mouse cursor to be over the middle of the upper-left Trigger in the just-shown Floating Menu and pasted it to each of the 6 Floating Menu Triggers that show one of these two other Floating Menus Action Sequences.
A less general way to ask this same question: is there a setting in the Floating Menu configuration to position the mouse cursor? Should there be?
