Fix a macOS trackpad bug

There is a bug I've encountered many times on almost every Mac I've used in the last 10 years, which is that swiping with two fingers to go backwards or forwards (particularly in Safari) sometimes breaks. The page transition animation starts, but swiping further than that has no effect.

I used to think it was just me who had this problem, until I came across this Reddit thread where somebody asked about this exact issue. Even better, another user shared a temporary fix in the comments, which is to go to System Preferences and change the "Swipe between pages" gesture to 3 fingers and then back to 2 fingers. This works, but the bug always eventually returns.

Has anybody else here had this bug before? Am I just very unlucky to have encountered it on so many machines?

I was thinking that a more permanent fix for this system bug would fall perfectly under the purview of BetterTouchTool, if you manage to reproduce it.
