Hi There,
My ESC key recently stopped functioning properly only when BTT is active. I must have created something that did this by mistake. However, is there an easy way to diagnose where the problem is in my BTT actions?
Thanks!
Craig

Maybe it helps if you look at "Recenty Used" to see what is triggered.
I've been having the same issue, and I couldn't fix it by disabling any or all of my 3 actions. Craig, any luck solving the problem?
have you checked the recently used section?
Yes, but nothing stood out to me. It just listed activity related to the only 3 things I set up in BTT: a keyboard shortcut, a floating menu, and a key sequence.
The key sequence is the last thing I set up and may have been about the same time the problem began. The trigger is typing "mmdd " anywhere and having it be replaced by today's date in month/day format. I don't know if that's relevant.
doesn't sound like any of those could block your esc key. Does it start working if you quit BTT (otherwise it's not BTT)? If you want you can go to Help => Export Diagnostic Debug Information and send the result to me, then I can check what is blocking the key (if it is BTT)
Yes, the esc key works fine if I quit BTT but doesn't work at all with BTTm running. I've updated BTT and macOS and rebooted, etc. I've exported the debug log and will try uploading it for you here.
Thanks.
I checked your debug data and there is a ESC key configured without any action assigned in your Keyboard Shortcuts section. If you delete that it should work again.
May I ask why this is not visible in the “Recently Used” section? No action is also an “action” that is triggered and should be displayed. No?
I think it’s maybe a misunderstanding because the esc key is depicted via Apple’s esc key symbol which might not be very clear as it’s not depicted on modern keyboards anymore. I’ll replace it
