In macOS 26 (Tahoe), I have gotten pop-ups that the Touch Bar Simulator app uses a component that will not work in later releases. Can anyone confirm whether the Simulator app indeed fails or continues to work?

it doesn't seem to work here. However the Touch Bar Simulator included in Xcode still works fine. Maybe the standalone app can be patched to work on Golden Gate - I haven't looked into it yet.

Thanks for the feedback Andreas. I'm sure macOS 27 has you busy with issues, but it would be great if you could put it on your list to see if a simple patch to the Simulator can be done. I find the Simulator to be nicely featured and easy to use. It would be nice to keep it around.

I just read that macOS 27 removes Rosetta 2, though it can be reinstalled. Do you know if this is the reason for the warnings about Touch Bar Simulator? If so, it might be that it can be made to work by just reinstalling Rosetta 2 - though apparently that will not be possible in macOS 28.

Some additional info for you @Andreas_Hegenberg - With the help of a colleague, we tested the Rosetta issue I mentioned above on their M1 MacBook Pro. They installed macOS 27 and then followed the instructions to install Rosetta and then installed the Touch Bar Simulator. The Simulator bar and its menu in the menu bar displayed fine and we could use the menu options and even the opacity slider on the Touch bar, but the contents of the Touch Bar remained blank even after creating Touch Bar buttons in BTT (this was using an old BTT version - 3.404). So, it seems that the Simulator almost works. I'm hoping that this gives you some clue what it might need and that it wouldn't take much to get it going under macOS 27.

Unfortunately Apple changed how the Touch Bar can be accessed. (Not sure why as it is pretty much dead unless they have some new plans for it)

It now requires a private entitlement that only Apple apps can have.

However there is a workaround to make it work on macOS 27. I added a predefined action "Toggle Touch Bar Simulator" to BTT 6.887 alpha that will work on macOS Golden Gate - however it **requires you to have Xcode installed on your machine**

That sounds great! Thanks very much Andreas. Umm, I'm used to assigning predefined actions to a keyboard key or as a touchbar button which doesn't seem like the thing to do with this action ... how would I use this new action so that it is always in effect?

it will work fine with keyboard shortcuts, but the action is only available on macOS 27!
