Does anybody have a MacBook Neo already?

Apparently it has a non-force-touch trackpad (like the MacBook Pro's before 2015) and I wonder whether BTT already handles it correctly or whether I need to make some changes to support it.

If anybody already got one, could you check if e.g. the "three finger click" gesture is recognized by BTT?

I will be buying one for my mother. I'll let you know once it arrives.

I have the Neo and have been trying to get the trackpad to work. It mostly doesn’t

When tapping the trackpad and not physically pressing down:

Three finger tap works about 50% of the time.

Two finger tap works maybe 35% of the time.

1 finger tab in left corner works perhaps 1 in 20 tries.

For physical push down of trackpad, I can’t find anything that BTT will react to.

Tried corner click and corner force click but no response.

Any 1 / 2 / 3 finger combos also don’t work at all if physically pressing down at the same time.

In main mac settings I was able to set right click to the bottom corner, so I’m assuming it is possible to detect physical clicks in the corners.

I should note that I’ve never owned a Mac or iPhone or indeed any Apple device prior to the last two weeks. So BTT is also entirely new and it could be I’m missing something.

I do have a technical background with PCs so I can try and help diagnose these.

thanks for testing! I‘ll grab one tomorrow to add support for it!

after doing some testing with a Neo, everything seems to work fine here.

@kognitro most likely your issues come from something else, maybe the configured actions? The gestures seem to work perfectly on my test-Neo

So it turned out I was tapping too slowly, I didn’t realise that the tap actions require a quick tap rather than holding a little longer which is what I was doing. Maybe that’s adjustable somewhere, but anyway I get it now.

Sorry to have initiated a purchase on your side unnecessarily. Tapping quickly does work when physically pressing down too although it’s hard to press fully down quickly enough on the Neo. I’m not sure if it’s possible or even practical to have different actions based on tap or physical press, but it would be useful. I am trialing BTT right now, but am likely to purchase given the benefit of the trackpad customisations alone, and I haven’t got to other features yet.

Actually from testing just now Corner Click bottom left and Corner Click bottom right require physical press of the trackpad, but Corner Click top left doesn’t. I can’t get Corner Click top right to trigger.

I wouldn’t use bottom left corner anyway as it’s already just a left click and I tend to click in the corner already. I might add key combinations to the right bottom corner though.

BTT offers tap and click triggers, the click triggers (e.g. three finger click) require you to press the trackpad down, the tap triggers do not

No worries, it's a great machine for testing stuff (always good to test on a current but lower powered model)
