BTT 6.826 MacOS 27.0 MacBook Pro
BTT is using 31.2 GB of disk space! Why? More importantly, how do I reduce this?
I created an action to display the clipboard manager, and deleted the history. Rescanned the disk, still got this crazy usage reported.
yah I have dealt with this for years. I deal with it by just pruninhg the largest and oldest backups, because thats wha they are-old versions. I usually sort folder by size abd date abd keep a few of the most recent builds and delete the rest and end up saving sometimes 10's of gigs of diskspace. I usually just delete the build files and leave all the other files alone. Just purge the 100+ mb build files that will take care of most of the bulk but keep a few of the most recent just to be safe. good luck
you can set a limit for how long clipboard history is being kept! I’d recommend to use that to limit the size that can accumulate quickly
I set the history to zero. I also deleted the history that had accumulated. DB size is till 11GB. Can I just delete it.
sorry, setting to 0 should not be allowed / it should be clear that 0 means unlimited. I'll fix that.
You can use this button to clear the data:
If that for some reason also doesn't clear your database, it usually means there is some data corruption. In that case just delete the files/folders - BTT will recreate them automatically if necessary.
yah like i said the files are the old version builds or at least the ones at least in my btt config are about 160mb each and there is order of different file extensions i only delete the oldest builds from months ago up to around a week or so give me a buffer if i want to go back, you can see by looking in finder the created and modified date. Make sure to not delete the one you are currently using/is in use but that can be remedy as long as you dont clear the trash, otherwise just go into the trash and "Put Back" file and BTT will have already created a new file i have away just replaced it with my original file that i accidentally deleted. I did it last night and cleanup at least 30 of these build files, fyi there is a pattern so it is rather easy it will be like different ext different extension file and then build file and that repeats over and over. Or you can just sort the folder by date and size.
here is an example of a file to delete btt_data_store.version_6_815_build_20260912028A027523-D703-4F63-80EA-EAE8C865034F
filesize=164.5mb and is from Sept 10th build version
Note these are your auto-backup files so the more you purge less farther back you can but really how far back you do usually go? And watch to not delete the whm file and just in my experience the risk/reward deleting the smaller 1-10mb or even 20mb are not worth deleting just delete the big 100+ and im sure you will save GIGS
its not the clipboard
@wynstaxxx you are talking about something different, have a look at the screenshot in the first post - here the issue is definitely the clipboard manager.
For the automatic backups: BTT keeps the databases that have been used during the last 90 days (this is so users can easily downgrade without breaking their setups, because newer version databases are often not compatible with older version ones). For users with standard auto-update this is usually something between 3-5 databases. However if you regularly update to alpha / manual versions it can be significantly more. I can make this time configurable.
my bad your right....#$@$@# of course
didnt look at the picture just glanced and assumed that what he was talking about without ever actually looking at the photo duh! yah it def if the clipboard i just assumed it was the issue i was describing bc i have never heard or experencied clipoard file getting that large holy smokes.
