Describe the bug
under the touch bar general settings, with Show MacOS Control Strip Unchecked It doesnt seem to go away. If I toggle the setting it goes away until I select a new window.

I'm having this same issue, and I posted about it in the GoldenChaos-BTT thread. No matter what I do, the default "x" and MacOS control strip come back as soon as I navigate away from the "General Touch Bar Settings" window.

Do you maybe have app-specific overrides defined?
I can't really think of an other reason why that would happen :-/
Nope, that was one of the first things I checked. Doesn't matter what app I'm in...as soon as the General Touch Bar Settings panel loses focus, the MacOS control strip reasserts itself.
That's very weird. Unfortunately I haven't heard of such an issue before.
Maybe try to delete the preset and start with a fresh one to see whether that's causing it.
Wound up having to do a complete wipe and reinstall of BTT. Now it works as expected.
