Copy text from "App 1" text box to "App 2" text box automatically?

Hello- New to all of this and would be grateful for any help on how to do this!

Context/Use Case: I trade stocks with multiple external monitors and multiple apps; when analyzing a stock I will review a stock's chart on "App 1" and other financial info on "App 2"--both need to have the stock's ticker (say AAPL for Apple stock) entered into their respective text windows to pull up the appropriate info.

The current process is to double click on the existing ticker text window (from a prior stock analyzed) to select all text, type in the new ticker of interest, and then hit return to pull up its data in the respective app windows.

It would be so helpful to have that new text entered in "App 1" automatically populate in "App 2" (or "App n...", think multiple apps) and have the trigger return applied so all data repopulates

I'm just starting with BTT but am curious:

  • Will this require all app windows to be in a consistent, fixed grid? (assuming BTT will need to map to the targeted text boxes somehow relative to X/Y?)
  • Does the new "Text Selection Did Change" function play into making this work?

Thanks in advance for any insight/help on this!

So a few views but no responses... Is this even possible with BTT?

Copy your post into chatgpt. Explain the app names. it's definitely possible with BTT. I'm doing some amazing things with it these days

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try

I'm not sure what apps are you using etc., but I have somehow similar workflow - copy from any app and paste into another app. I guess mine is maybe simpler, but here it is:

Eventually you can get some inspiration.

Very helpful, thanks!!!
