I often receive emails that I don’t need to open and move them directly to Trash. However, I find it distracting that the number of unread emails still appears beside the Trash folder. I’m looking for a way to automatically mark emails in Trash as "read" without doing it manually. Since Mail’s "Rules" feature doesn’t seem to support this, do you have any suggestions for a workaround using BTT?
Hi, I don't think that this is what I'm looking for. The rule in your screenshot seems to require a certain keyword, and then it automatically trashes the email when it delivers.
I'd like for emails that I manually send to Trash to be marked as read automatically. It doesn't seem like there's an option for this.
Could you please describe in more detail your current workflow?
Are you sure you're talking about the Trash folder and not the Junk folder?
How are you manually sending emails to Trash?
When an email arrives in my inbox, I have the option to delete it without opening it. If I have several unread emails in my inbox that I know I don’t need to read, I can simply put all of them in Trash. I was hoping that when I put them in Trash, there would be a way to not show an unread number next to the Trash folder.
How are you doing that exactly?
What do you mean by "put" exactly? Selecting multiple emails and then drag and drop? A keyboard shortcut?
I've tried multiple different combinations and I'm not able to reproduce your issue. For me, however which way I move email(s) from my Inbox to the Trash, they always get marked as read.
