'Close Window Under Cursor' Closes Wrong Overlapping Window in Mission Control

Describe the bug
I'm using middle mouse button or 4 finger trackpad click for 'Close Window Under Cursor (Works in Mission Control)'. The following behavior started after the macOS 27 update.

When multiple windows overlap in Mission Control (when they're grouped by application) and the cursor is in a spot where they overlap, it closes the lowermost window at that spot, instead of the topmost one (the one with the selection border around it). When the cursor is in a spot where there is no overlap, it works as expected.

Also, the shortcut does not work at all in the Application Expose and I'm pretty sure it did before the update.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Air M5
  • macOS version: 27.0 (26A428)
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.845 (2026092108)

unfortunately I think this can not be resolved, the system only returns one window id in this scenario and it’s always the lower one. I’ll check whether there is a workaround but currently I don’t have one!

Apple removed the great mission control accessibility they had in previous versions, making it hard for third parties to interact with it.

ah actually I found a solution that works ok! Will be included in the next build (uploading in a few minutes).

Thank you so much, it works now
