“Click requires Force Touch” in Very Experimental settings causes unexpected behaviour, even if disable

Originally titled “Force Touch Trackpad presses the first button on my Touch Bar” in “Discussions & Questions”.

Original post:

I’ve checked all my main settings and even when BetterTouchTool is not open (the process is closed) the Trackpad Force Touch works as expected.

When BTT is running, and I Force Touch my Trackpad, the esc key presses – well, since esc is the first button on BTT, it presses, but if I disable the esc button, it does the leftmost Touch Bar action.

I can do Force Touch fine, but if it press it even harder (after Force Touch, no haptics), the Touch Bar button activates.

After 6 months, I finally fixed it.

Turn off Click requires Force Touch (1 Finger Force Click on Trackpad)

BetterTouchTool → Preferences → Standard Settings → Touch Bar → Advanced → Control Touch Bar with Mouse (Very Experimental)

I even had the main “Enable Touch Bar Control by Mouse” setting OFF, and this setting still somehow got through and applies a bug.

Click requires Force Touch (1 Finger Force Click on Trackpad) is what caused the issue.
