Maybe macOS doesn't show the BTT menubar but still has it active because the BTT process has keyboard focus when the searchable list is visible.
It looks like that. When I use System Settings to map the BTT menu Item open live view to ^+L live view is not opened anymore..

Also, in this version CMD+L does move the focus to the input field, even if I do not remap the BTT menu item's key sortcut in system settings.
personally I like the search field highlighted for the main menu but not for submenus
When I enter the submenu the first item (Go back) is selected. When I start typing the first menu whose name starts with the first letter that I type is selected. However, when there is more than one item starting with this letter I need to go back to the input field using CDM+L or navigate using arrow keys. In case there are many submenus, it would be nice to first filter submenus using the typed input. Thus, an option for the focus behavior will be great (possibly also as option for the simple JSON format)!
With a 'Choose From List' configured like this:
It seems that when typing in the filter, each character is split onto a new line for some reason (eg. This is "Fo"):
@devalias I can't reproduce it with any of my "choose from list" setups.
Could you share the setup for this list?
Or could you check whether anything is showing up in BTT's "Recently Used" section that would explain the new line? Maybe some trigger is configured for when the list is active?

I have also been having the same problem for several weeks, similar to @devalias's situation. When I search in certain situations, the letters overlap as shown in the video below.
Configuration :
This has been buggy for several versions and is not working properly. I tried the latest version 4.9999 (2024122702) and the problem is still present. I am currently using macOS Sonoma 14.7.
I reported this from macOS 14.5 (23F79), BTT 4.9997.
I've just updated to BTT 4.9999 and can confirm that the bug no longer seems to be present for me 
As for me, the bug still appears in the latest version.
