I got the same issue
using the trial version? I’ll upload a new trial build later today. (if you have a license make sure to activate it, this only affects trial users)

Can I ask what the rationale is behind breaking software for people like this? I've never seen anything like it in my time of using Macs for 10+ years -- where an app that doesn't require server for anything would just stop working without any action on the behalf of user.
It doesn't especially inspire confidence to pay money for it.
it allows me to not require server connections & user accounts while still making trials possible

usually it’s not visible for the user 
this time an error on my side prevented the timely update of the trial build.
Will be fixed in ~2 hours (or whenever a license is installed)
A fixed update should be available now.

I got a similar issue here since 3875 - update check takes ages. Thats weird. I am now on 3785 - licensed - but its still taking looooong to search for update
