BTT Mobile Testflight Beta

Hi! I don't know if there are plans to add this feature, but it would be nice if you could display the contents of local (from preset files) HTML files using "Web Item / HTML Item".

yep, presetfile:// will be supported soon!

v0.2 has been approved on testflight, it requires BTT 5.299 alpha (and 5.299 alpha won't work with previous versions anymore). Main change is the exchange of the whole networking stack, but also some bugfixes. You will probably need to re-authorize the app, as the certificates have changed.
This does not yet fully fix the trackpad but now it’s just a matter of adding some optimizations.

Variables are still not fully supported, they are now at least loaded once when BTT Mobile connects, but won't update until the next connect yet.

bttweb:// support has been added for the first few actions, especially trigger_named should now be working through it.

Next version will focus on features.

Hi Andreas,

updated both sides...
checked whether "BTT Mobile is still enabled" on the Mac (it was), then started BTT Mobile (it did not found the Mac), only after I toggled the setting "BTT Mobile enabled" in BTT Mac.
Then the authorisation HUD shows up ("white on light white colors", could be improved...), entered number and the standard menu appears...

so far so good.
Opened "Ableton Live" (to get my app depending floating menu loading, it still works, but somehow loading my submenus / navigation is not working anymore...
(with your "BTT Test menu" submenus are loading fine...)

..

Thx,
Christian

I think the names of the device have changed slightly with the new framewrk, if you have configured the actions to only run on a specific device, you might need to re-select.
This should now stay stable.

Thx,
over here I see those (my Apple Watch as well :upside_down_face:):

I had first selected ...iPad Running on Mobile but that one does not work...

works now...

Hi Andreas, I just installed BTT v5.299 and BTT Mobile v0.2.

I noticed that BTT Mobile will often disconnect after a new connection. Here's a screen recording:

This happens every time I toggle off BTT Mobile in BTT settings and then click on the Reset Allowed Devices button.

does it stay connected after that initial thing?
I think this might be an issue with the certificate setup, I'll check! (I'm now pinning the server side certificate as well after initial connection and don't allow connections on mismatch - possibly after disabling / enabling it gets into a state where it thinks there is a mismatch)

Apple Watch is not yet supported, but I have some plans for it  The "Running BTT Mobile" ones are the old ones. I'll clear them out next.

It looks like BTT Mobile will automatically reconnect to my Mac and stay connected to it after I quit the BTT Mobile app and then reopen it.

I hope this is helpful!

thanks I'll check whether I can fix this on the Mac side, otherwise it will be fixed with the next BTT Mobile build!

Hallo Andreas,

as (re)-connecting is still an issue over here, I cleared the cache within the BTT Mobile app.

Now my menu is initially loading without any images and crashing after some seconds the BTT Mobile app, (without any interaction).

Thx,
Christian

in that case you might need to uninstall the app and reinstall, I probably haven’t updated the cache deletion to the updated architecture yet.

What kind of issues do you have with connecting?

  1. I reinstalled the app.
  2. Mac is open / login on
  3. Open the reinstalled app
  4. No connection found!
  5. toggled the BTT enabled setting from on to off to on…
  6. App connects now
  7. entered code and app show the menu…

When i now close the lid/ log out the app disconnects (fine).
And when I open the Mac lid / log in again, the app will not reconnect
I try also to close the app before log out, open it after log in, no connection found.
It will only reconnect when I toggled the BTT enabled setting from on to off to on…

On the crash: reinstall the app did not fix the issue with my menu, after the crash I open the app and this does not found a Mac…similar to above. Toggle BTT enabled setting will connect again.

Hope this helps,
Christian

you mean you still don’t get any image?

about the connection: very weird for me the connection / reconnection has been almost instant with the new version. I‘ll soon add a way to export the logs from the mobile app, that will help see what’s happening!

Yes, correct. menu loads, then after 2 or 3 seconds crashes the app,
The buttons are all loaded, show text, border etc but no images, no icons

I am running the Beta OS
iPadOS 18.4 (22E240)

Exciting! I've been thinking about this and wondering when it would come out.

Unfortunately not showing a connection for me. Followed instructions and enabled it in settings, but the app is stuck "searching".

@proactivematter are you on 5.299 alpha? (required for the 0.2 build)

Hi Andreas,

some more info...
sometimes, there is no process / app displayed, example menu works fine.

I noticed that each time my menu is opened some more image are actually loading,

I would guess if I open the menu another 10 times :thinking:I got have all images displayed...
so it looks that some resources are "running out of juice" before crashing the app...

Thx,
Christian
