BTT does not work after sleep

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro
  • macOS version: Sequoia 15.7.2
  • BetterTouchTool version: 2.428 (788)

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

Hello! I tried looking for similar issues but I suspect its because my copy of BTT is too old. It used to work fine on the base model M1 Macbook Air, but i have upgraded to a M1 Pro Macbook Pro since then and updated MacOS and since then:

  1. I do have the option enabled to run BTT when login / start up. However the behaviour isn’t consistent and i have to manually start BTT often.

  2. BTT doesn’t run automatically when I wake my mac from sleep. I don’t have any ticker box for Restart after sleep, and again, I have to manually wake Mac from sleep

I know my copy of BTT is really old, maybe my time is up but just wanted to know for sure if that’s the case.

That version should in general not be used on a Apple Silicon Mac because it was created before Apple Silicon was introduced. This means your Mac will always need to load Rosetta2 in order to launch BTT, which in case of BTT will result in performance issues due to the relatively low level it works at.

If you still want to use it, make sure to not add BTT to the macOS login items but instead enable the launch on start option in the BTT settings

Thank you for the quick response. I see, it is indeed a very old copy of the app. I’ll consider getting a new license.

Thanks Andreas!
