BTT Clipboard Manager Development & Wishlist

I have just realized that this does not work for me. Space causes the content of the clipboard to disappear and only comes back when BTT is restarted.

sorry there is currently a bug with that, I have already fixed it, will push another update soon

Also, after rearranging action items, it looks like they get reset again to the default after restarting BTT.

I am currently using Maccy and have uninstalled Paste due to its high resource consumption. Your presets are already quite similar to those of Paste. What I care about most is the underlying logic of the software. While we can certainly draw inspiration from Paste’s features, such as differentiating the clipboard based on different apps, the key focus should remain on optimizing the underlying logic to minimize performance overhead.

4.941 (uploading) should fix various issues and now also allows dragging items into the clipboard manager, as well as reordering items. It also adds an option to prevent duplicates.

Thanks for reporting! That should be fixed in 4.942 alpha (uploading)

Thanks!

I'm seeing some kind of visual artifact now above the first action button now. It gets darker if you hover over it. I don't recall seeing it in the earlier versions from today.

EDIT

It looks like it's supposed to be for file paths. However, it's showing up blank when the item isn't actually a file.

I took the liberty of preparing the first 20 clipboards for pasting with the keyboard. Number 10 is 0, after which it continues with A, B, C ... The only thing missing now is the labeling of the clipboards. :slightly_smiling_face:

BTT Clipboard Manager 1-20_export.bttpreset (43.9 KB)

@Andreas_Hegenberg Just for your information: 4.942 has unfortunately not solved the problem with the preview and moving the clipboards.

@Frank1 weird, you mean this?

Which version of macOS are you on?

Yes, that. Plus moved clipboards reappear in their original position after restarting BTT. And a new gray area appears at the bottom left edge of a clipboard.

OS 13.2.1

Thank you Andreas for these updates!

Have you considered exposing the different pasteboard type identifiers (UTI) of each pasteboard item? Currently, I'm constantly switching between BTT's Clipboard Manager (to access my clipboard history) and the Pasteboard-Viewer app (to access the current clipboard's UTIs).

It would be very valuable to me if BTT's Clipboard Manager allowed users to view each clipboard item's UTIs just like Pasteboard-Viewer. The Pasteboard-Viewer app also allows users to view the content of the clipboard as Hex.

Here are some screenshots demonstrating how Pasteboard-Viewer works:

@fortred2 good idea, I keep every representation anyways. I'll add a dropdown to the preview.

WHY  that sounds like the worst of all worlds (I remember so many bugs from the 13.2 era).
I'll check what's wrong there

Amazing – I'm really looking forward to QAing and providing UX feedback!

I added a very basic version of this in 4.943 (uploading).

It only handles few utis at the moment and defaults to plain text display for unhandled ones. If it can not decode to a string it currently just shows the base64 encoded data.

This currently doesn’t work in compact mode, will be fixed in next alpha

All right, I'll reveal my secret. I am a masochist. But don't tell anyone :smirk:

@fortred2 Why do you agree? Where do you know my setup from? :joy:

@fortred2 I really like this feature, super helpful for me as well
I have added some different rendering modes, could add more:

I don’t know your setups, but I resonate with your “masochist" comment :stuck_out_tongue:
