AppleScript vs Link vs Javascript

I want to ask you what is the best option to run BTT triggers from other apps.

Do I use "Link to activate the selected trigger" or "AppleScript to activate the selected trigger"? Is there any difference?

I'm curious also why there is no "Javascript to activate the selected trigger"? I can only see "Javascript to activate the selected action".

because the java script would need to be run in BTT in order to have the various BTT JS additions.

The best way is Apple Script (or the new command line tool)
