Apple wired headphones on macOS

Hi

When I use my wired Apple headphones on macOS and press play, then iTunes open.
I would like Spotify to open and start playing.

If Spotify is running then it can be controlled with the headphones.
Does anybody know of a way to control what happens when pressing the remote?

This would be amazing... I get so annoyed when I accidentally cause iTunes to launch. It would be great if we could control the buttons and map them to other apps like Spotify, or mute/unmute for video conferencing...
