When Better Touch tool is enabled, the clicking behavior is slow and often requires another click to be able to click/select an item. If I disable BTT, then the clicking behavior is as expected. It feels as if BTT is trying first to decipher the click, then it allows the OS to control the click.
most likely something on your system is using a lot of CPU (> 100%). Best check via activity monitor.
This is pretty much the only thing that could cause general delays here. Or do the delays only happen in a specific app?
It could also be BTT itself, e.g. if something is set to trigger recursively
Thank you Andreas. I check the activity monitor and all looks good.
Turns out that in the advanced settings of BTT there are some default delays built in to certain actions. I changed them to no delay, and it has improved the responsiveness of clicking and the affected actions.
Same with trackpad. In my experience since Tahoe. I am pretty sure it is BTT causing this. When I click the red dot on Journal.app, the app does not disappear from view, it stays but ‘clear’ into an empty window. I have to click slightly longer on the red dot in order to make it work. When I disable BTT, everythign works fine, responds quickly. I have no BTT actions o nthe button. This seems a bug. I have no idea how to fix this annoyance. Hope Andreas has a solution…
