After Tahoe install, keyboard recognition does not work

After installing Tahoe, the “Trigger Conditions: Works on keyboards with same type as used for recording” option doesn’t seem to work. For example, I’m using two different keyboards and have mapped F6 to Show Desktop on one and Sleep on the other. In Sequoia, with the above setting enabled, BTT accurately triggered the correct shortcut depending on the keyboard I used. Now, in Tahoe, pressing F6 brings up this:

Here are the details of my setup:

  • BTT version 5.640 | 2025091703 (from Setapp)
  • Tahoe 26.0.1
  • MacBook Pro 14” M4 Max
  • MacBook internal keyboard
  • Microsoft Sculpt keyboard

does it work if you re-record the shortcut?

Or is maybe secure input mode active? (check via the BTT icon)

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, no, I’ve rerecorded the shortcut and it still doesn’t work. There is no secure input activated.

One new detail: after rerecording the shortcut (same F6 example as above), now nothing happens at all when I press F6 on the internal keyboard. But the external MS Sculpt keyboard works and it is correctly triggering Show Desktop. The internal keyboard doesn’t seem to be working at all for keyboard shortcuts.

Yep, I’m experiencing the same issue.. re-recording shortcuts (on either of both keyboards - internal one and/or bluetooth) not helps

Secure input not enabled

If it was not working for the internal keyboard, potentially a workaround added in 5.696 should resolve this.

Thanks. I’m on the Setapp version 5.640. It doesn’t seem to want to update. Any idea how I can force it? Or do I just have to wait?

for setapp you need to wait a bit. I'll upload the current alpha version to setapp's beta channel soon (but beta updates need to be enabled in the setapp settings in order to make it show)
