A thiner Elgato StreamDeck out there?

I'd like to buy physical controller with buttons which have a display underlying. Think on Elgato StreamDeck, which I had but gave it back. I need a thin hardware unit, best case in the dimensions of a MacBookPro M1 case. This device lies next to meand should send controller data to the Mac and BTT reacts on it. Vice versa: that unit shows my BTT buttons as a text.

Maybe this is out there already? :slight_smile:
And no: I do not mean an iPad, I need phyical buttons.

Unfortunately I don't know of any. Maybe dismantle your stream deck and build a new casing for it? I think the actual tech inside is not thicker than the Macbook Pro case. :smiley: Elgato Stream Deck - What is inside? - Album on Imgur

I wonder whether there are any tactile feedback overlays for the ipad, similar to how the stream deck buttons work. This could be pretty cool, maybe I'll do some experiments with my 3d printer and some transparent plastic.

If the XL version can be rotated by 90 degrees?

At least when using it with BTT I could easily add an option to rotate the buttons (it's just images being displayed)

If you screen text via the Elgato app, this are just images? Or is the process different with BTT? It is on Beta, that's why I am asking what that means.

the device just displays images, how they are generated in the Elgato software I don’t know. BTT renders the input text and icons into a png and sends that to the device

I would choose Mode 1: BTT controls StreamDeck. But I still need to install their whole software package, right?

No if BTT controls the Stream Deck you only need BTT

Thanks for your manual about StreamDeck, this is really helpful. The original Elgato software has a limit of 10 pages (for more you might want to use profiles etc.). Does this applies to BTT as well (I guess: no)?
How long should I wait till I can turn it by 90 degrees?

@JohannesSchv May I ask, you have a MacBook with a Touchbar, but you don't like it?

No, I have a M1 Pro MBP. I want to have physical knobs as I am switching between Apps like a jongleur.

You are on a windows machine, right, the touchbar disappeard many years ago already from all MacBook*Pro devices. :slight_smile:

I need more than 1 stripe, literally 8-16. Right now I am trying an iPad next to the Mac (due to the height, Elgato is too big on my desk). But humans brain memory does work better with hardware knobs: I do not have to look for the button, I feel and count it, which makes it easier.

Ich habe wohl scheinbar übersehen, was Du, Andreas, für krass gute Überlegungen in die BTTRemote.App gelegt hast! Beispiel: Seit Jahren nervt mich das ewige manuelle Geklicke in der Vorschau.app, in der App sind die Punkte in der Seitenleiste einfach mit dem Finger anzutippen. Wahnsinn!! Gänsehautmoment :smiley:

Die BTT Remote App wird jetzt hoffentlich bald wirklich durch die komplett neue BTT Mobile App ersetzt - falls es Dinge gibt die dir aus der BTT Remote app wichtig sind schreibe sie gerne hier auf.

Parallel zu den Arbeits-Applikationen mache ich regelmäßig Bildschirmfotos -> Vorschau -> Notizen hinzufügen -> Teilen mit Leuten/ mit Archiv/ mit Support.

  1. Werkzeuge in Vorschau aktivieren, Werkzeuge manuell aufrufen indem das richtige Bild geklickt wird. Was so gar nicht mein Gehirn mag.

  2. Lösungsidee mit iPad und BTTRemote stelle ich mir gerade (!) so vor:
    • Tippen auf das iPad der Seitenleiste und ich habe Zugriff darauf. Gerade in Momenten, wo mein Gehirn Auge-Finger-Reaktion möchte. Mit Maus ist es ja Auge-Suchen-Maus bewegen-Klicken-Reaktion + Fehler da Text mit Hinweis erst nach 2sek eingeblendet wird == massive Ungeduld bei mir. :wink:

Ich vermute, ich kann meine Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit nochmal steigern mit iPad und BTTRemote.
